How to take a good photo with your phone
- Lay a baby on their back on a plain white or off-white sheet, or cover a car seat with the sheet. Older children can stand in front of a plain white wall.
- Use soft, even daylight so there are no shadows on the face. Turn the flash off.
- Hold the phone straight in front of (or directly above) the child’s face. Keep your hands, and everyone else, out of the picture.
- Take plenty of shots and pick one where the child faces the camera with a neutral face, with no pacifier or toy in view.
- A baby’s eyes don’t need to be fully open, but an older child’s must be open.
- Upload the photo above, check it against the guides, and download the print sheet.
Common questions
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The face detection and cropping run inside your browser. Your photo is never sent to a server.
How do I print the photos?
Download the 4×6 print sheet and print it as a standard 4×6 inch (10×15 cm) photo at any photo shop or pharmacy. If you print at home, choose "actual size" or 100%, not "fit to page". Cut along the grey lines.
